Ranking all 20 Premier League Third Kits

With the Premier League season 11 games through, the table has begun to take shape and the true competitors for the Title and places in European football next season have shown themselves. While the players have showcased their skills on the pitch, the squads as a whole have (or haven't) looked stylish while playing. Since every year, most clubs choose a new third kit, I'll be ranking these.

20.) Brighton and Watford

For some reason, these two squads are the only ones to not have a third kit for this season. However, some teams do chose to release these later in the season so be on the look out for some late stylish showings from these two.

18.) Manchester City

Clearly someone at the Man City headquarters was craving sorbet ice cream. Usually the fluorescent colors are a good look, but this seems to have missed the mark quite a bit.

17.) Liverpool

This is the only time you'll see Man City and Liverpool at the bottom of the table. The idea of the Reds' kit is definitely a likable one, but the mint-green and black combo with this pattern is more of a warmup top than an official jersey. Needless to say, last season's purple thirds were much better.

16.) Burnley

The reason behind this season's kit is a very respectable one with "Project Evergreen," where the club will plant a tree for every jersey sold. However, the kit itself is quite dull and would have looked much better with some small nature designs on the sleeves, perhaps.

15.) Newcastle United

Another example of the fluorescent not quite being up to task. The design, symbolic of Newcastle's stadium, is a huge plus, but the orange is just a little too out there. The jersey is more reminiscent of a '90s goalkeeper jersey.

14.) Wolverhampton

Wolves clearly went with a Mexico-inspired third season this year, likely to connect with its growing following from Mexican fans thanks to the skillful Raul Jimenez. However, green rarely looks good on jerseys and this is no exception, especially for a club so associated with yellow and black.

13.) Bournemouth

The color looks like a standard yellow highlighter and lacks any creativity in terms of design. About as run-of-the-mill as one can get for a kit. The navy trip is a nice touch, however.

12.) Sheffield United

Unlike some of the other fluorescent tops behind them, the color is actually quite appealing and matches the attitude of the sixth-place, newly-promoted side. However, as a third kit, one is left wanting a little more in unique design, leaving the jersey looking more like a flashy warmup.

11.) Southampton

Aside from the favorable shoulder stripes, Southampton's third is more or less another basic white jersey. Not a lot to love, but not a lot to hate either.

10.) Crystal Palace

Overall, there's really nothing wrong with CP's third this season. The two-colored striped is very appealing and the sleeve/shoulder trim looks great too. The kit is this low only because of competition and a lapse in uniqueness.

9.) Norwich City

Norwich's kit falls in the same boat as Palace's. In all, the jersey is a clean and unique deep gray. However, considering the side's home and away jerseys are brightly colored and full of unique designs, the kit lacks the extra touch expected for a third.

8.) Aston Villa

One of the few times I am a fan of green on a jersey. Villa did really well with this one, as the unique, modern lines are quite appealing. The red and black touches also blend really well with the green, which is a cool forest green.

7.) Everton

The matte black with blue is overall a really clean look. The small touch of lines on the neck is very appealing but that's the only really unique aspect. Some of these stripes on the sleeves would push the kit up the list.

6.) Manchester United

Another kit where its hard to find too much wrong. The print, seemingly paisley, is very unique and is a huge plus. However, the color scheme is a little lacking. A touch of red on the print or the trim may have seen this one a spot or two higher.

5.) Arsenal

The Gunners skipped on their traditional red and yellow (mostly) and it sure paid off. The simple navy with yellow trim is a very clean look.

4.) West Ham

After a promising first several games, the Hammers have slipped down the table to 13th. However, this jersey is no poor performance. The unique deep purple and touch-of-pink combo is marvelous and the abstract triangles are an awesome, subtle touch.

3.) Leicester City

The Foxes' pink is eye-catching, and only in a great way. The blend of three shades of pink stripes across the chest is a attractive, but not overdone touch.

2.) Chelsea

Frank Lampard's side have surprised the league so far, sitting in fourth despite large amounts of youth and the transfer ban, and they've looked good doing so. The deep black with orange and white trim is welcomingly different from the club's historic white and blue. With a closer look, the pattern across the entirety of the jersey is very likable, too.

1.) Tottenham

The Spurs' season has been a mess, to say the least, finding themselves in 11th place, the lowest of the Big Six sides. However, their style has been far from a mess. A delayed release, Tottenham's lovely bright-blue kit is a beaut, with funky, uneven lines and subtle navy trim. Plus, the two-button collar is a nice touch.
